Armed with an indelible love and encyclopedic knowledge of music, NICKFRESH has a way with audiences exciting them with his incredible mixing and entertainment skills.
From Jacksonville, NICKFRESH is a classically trained musician commanding his living as a professional DJ, producer and remixer. He DJs frequently in various clubs around the area as well as across the country and has amassed a long list of entertaining audiences - including the Jacksonville Jaguars home games, several weddings, roller discos, charity events, professional radio (Clear Channel/iHeart) and various music festivals. Nick also had the privilege to induct the iconic “Soul Train” brand into the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, DC in 2011. How did that happen? 22 years ago, he founded the world’s largest Soul Train fan community, SOULTRAINFANS.COM
Born and raised in North Florida, Nick's love for music was cultivated at a very early age as he was always surrounded by a variety of musical genres. It wasn't until he was four years of age that he was in classical training and music theory for piano. By eight years old, he was mixing with two turntables for family and friends. By 12, Nick taught himself how to play the trumpet and accordion. By the ripe age of 20, Nick played in a few rock bands, toured the country, began his stint at Clear Channel (his first job) as an onair radio personality/announcer/voiceover artist throughout high school and college and was already producing and remixing songs. As Soul Train has been one of Nick's greatest inspirations, he created SOULTRAINFANS, a community of fans of the iconic American television dance show "Soul Train." In its 18-year history, the fan community has been responsible for reuniting former dancers and staff of the show, became very instrumental in putting vintage episodes back on the air ("The Best Of Soul Train") as well as the VH1 Rock Documentary “Soul Train: The Hippest Trip In America” (now among the highest rated + most watched VH1 documentaries in history) and making Soul Train viral and accessible in the days of social media before YouTube and Facebook. SOULTRAINFANS currently consists of over 5,000 people with its entire line of social networks combined!
In 2011, Nick, alongside Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson (Drummer for The Roots and the bandleader of the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon), Tony Cornelius (television impresario and son of Don Cornelius), Kenard Gibbs (CEO of Soul Train Holdings, LLC) and Tyrone Proctor (original “Soul Train” dancer and groundbreaking choreographer) helped induct the “Soul Train” brand into the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture - an achievement Nick considers as one of his greatest thus far.
